Which Singing Bowl should I buy?

If you would like to buy a Singing Bowl, you should first consider what you want to use it for: Are you primarily interested in the sound, or would you also like to use it for therapy or massage? If the latter, you should also check the vibration behaviour of the Singing Bowl.

What is so special about Peter Hess® Singing Bowls?

The construction and manufacture of our Singing Bowls are based on ancient knowledge of production and material composition. We exclusively use pure, high-quality metals (copper and tin) – no metals from waste products or scrap. Within the scope of the Peter Hess® Sound Massage, we work intensively with the Singing Bowls ourselves and continuously optimize them. Findings from research and good development work are also incorporated into the production.

What size and effect do Singing Bowls have?

Depending on its size – and the associated frequency – a Singing Bowl can have varying effects on different areas of the body. The bowl's vibrations encourage body cells to strengthen their self-healing powers. Individual body areas react differently to specific frequency spectra and vibration properties of a Singing Bowl. A Heart Bowl has a different effect than a Pelvic Bowl or a Head Bowl.

Small Singing Bowls include the Head Bowl, the Heart Bowl, and the Throat Bowl. Large Singing Bowls include the Pelvic Bowl, the Solar Plexus Bowl, and the Universal Bowl. Besides size, the point of strike and the force used to strike also affect the sound. The bowl can best develop its sound when struck on its outer rim. A gentle strike produces soft sounds, while a powerful strike creates louder, more intense tones.

High tin content in Peter Hess® Singing Bowls

Our Singing Bowls have a high tin content, and this raw material is particularly valuable. Other manufacturers often reduce the tin content or replace it with lead (solder) because tin is many times more expensive.

Elaborate forging technique

Our Peter Hess® Therapy Singing Bowls are forged from a cast blank. Compared to rational manufacturing, this means about 30 percent more work. With the forging technique we use, the Singing Bowl vibrates for a significantly longer and more even period.

High quality standards of Peter Hess® Singing Bowls

Approximately 320 kg of Peter Hess® quality Singing Bowls are made from 1,000 kg of high-quality bronze. This is partly due to the fact that we remove the Singing Bowls from the manufacturing process if they do not meet our quality requirements. These Singing Bowls are then melted down again, resulting in material losses. During the “fine-tuning” of the Singing Bowls, fine metal shavings are removed from the bowl, which can only be reused with great losses (due to evaporation during melting).

Our strict quality controls

Even if a good pre-selection already takes place in Nepal and India, some of the manufactured Singing Bowls do not meet our requirements to receive the “Peter Hess® Therapy Singing Bowl” quality seal. All Singing Bowls from Hess Sound are intensively tested again in Germany for their quality and classified into quality levels.
