The characteristic design of the TamTam Gong ensures a stable fundamental vibration and a clear, structured overtone development. Our TamTam Gongs are suitable for use in sound meditations, sound baths, therapeutic sound work, or concerts. The gong with a raised playing surface has a distinctive look: a golden ring, a black rim, and a black center. TamTam Gongs are played freely suspended, as this allows their sound to unfold best in the room. A suitable hanging strap is included, so you can securely position your gong.

The sound of a TamTam Gong unfolds both a calm fundamental vibration and a complex overtone spectrum. This allows them to be used for gentle, meditative soundscapes as well as for powerful sound developments. The richness of sound grows with increasing diameter: Larger gongs produce deeper, more room-filling vibrations, while smaller models enable precise sound impulses and finer tones. Only TamTam Gongs with exceptionally high sound quality receive the Hess Sound® Premium Gong seal.

Quality levels

Our TamTam Gongs are traditionally handcrafted and individually inspected and tested after production. This results in two quality levels: Hess Sound® Premium and Hess Sound® Classic. Only the best instruments in terms of sound and appearance receive the Premium seal. Gongs with minimal deviations are classified as Classic. Both variants stand for high sound quality and careful selection.

Manufacturing and Materials

Our Hess Sound TamTam Gongs are carefully handcrafted in India. They are made from a high-quality bronze alloy with copper and tin as the main components – exclusively from pure metals. The traditional forging technique and the characteristic design with a raised playing surface create a stable, calm sound with a clear overtone structure. Each gong is individually tested to ensure consistently high sound and manufacturing quality.

Care Instructions

For cleaning your TamTam Gongs, we recommend our biodegradable cleaning paste. Lightly moisten a sponge and rub it over the cleaning paste until a fine cleaning foam forms. For the TamTam Gong, the cleaning paste should only be used on the shiny playing surface. Using the sponge, clean the inner and outer surfaces of the gong for a few minutes with circular movements. Afterward, thoroughly wipe the surface with a damp cloth and then dry the gong with a soft cloth.
