For guiding singing bowls freely on the body

Suction Cups for Singing Bowls

Many singing bowls can be placed precisely with a suction cup or a suction cup with handle after you have struck them with a mallet. This way the singing bowls can be guided freely on the body while they sound. The centered suction device is used especially when working with people with disabilities and in special therapeutic applications, for example in occupational therapy. In our “helper series”, the high-quality suction cup is firmly screwed to a solid wood handle. For optimal suction, the singing bowl must be free of dust and the suction cup slightly moistened.

What is a suction cup for singing bowls?

A suction cup for singing bowls is a practical aid with which many singing bowls can be positioned safely and precisely and guided on the body. The suction cup adheres to the underside of the singing bowl, so you can move it in a targeted way after striking without having to grip the singing bowl directly with your hand. This allows the singing bowl to vibrate freely and unfold its sound unhindered. Suction cups are particularly suitable for working with singing bowls on the body, for example in sound massage or special therapeutic applications. Depending on size and suction strength, there are different models for different singing bowls. A suction cup can also be helpful for self-application when a singing bowl is to be positioned and guided precisely.

How is a suction cup for singing bowls used?

For a suction cup to adhere reliably to the singing bowl, the singing bowl should be clean and free of dust. The suction cup is moistened slightly before use. It is then placed on the underside of the singing bowl and pressed on so that sufficient suction is created. Now you can strike the singing bowl with the mallet and use the suction cup to guide it in a targeted way or position it at a specific spot on the body. It is important that the singing bowl is suitable for the size and suction strength of the suction cup. This way the singing bowl can be moved in a controlled manner while its natural vibration remains as free as possible.

Which singing bowls are suitable for a suction cup?

In principle, many singing bowls that have a sufficiently large and suitable contact surface for the suction cup are suitable. Which suction cup fits depends mainly on the size and weight of the singing bowl. The Mini and Small suction cups, for example, are suitable for Tiny Bowls and Head Bowls. The Medium suction cup can be used for Head Bowls, Small Heart Bowls and small Bengali Singing Bowls. For larger singing bowls such as Universal, Heart or Pelvic Bowls, the Large suction cup is recommended. What always matters is that the suction strength of the chosen model matches the weight of the singing bowl. This way it can be picked up, positioned and guided on the body safely.

Which suction cup is right for me?

The choice of the right suction cup depends on the size and weight of the singing bowl. For small models such as Tiny Bowls and Head Bowls, the Mini suction cup with a 3 cm diameter or the Small suction cup with a 5.5 cm diameter are a good choice; both have a suction strength of up to 500 g. For Head Bowls, Small Heart Bowls and small Bengali Singing Bowls, the Medium suction cup with up to 5 kg of suction strength is suitable. For larger singing bowls such as Universal, Heart and Pelvic Bowls, the Large suction cup with an 8 cm diameter and up to 15 kg of suction strength is intended. When choosing, the shape and contact surface of the singing bowl should be taken into account in addition to its weight.

What is the difference between a suction cup and a suction cup with handle?

Both aids make it possible to grip singing bowls securely, position them precisely and guide them on the body. The main difference lies in the design of the grip. The suction cup consists of a cup made of soft rubber and, depending on the model, is available with a finger loop or without an additional grip. The suction cup with grip, on the other hand, has a short, sturdy grip made of thermoset plastic that allows comfortable handling. Both versions are available in different sizes and are designed for different singing bowls. For larger singing bowls, for example, there are models with a suction cup 8 cm in diameter and a suction strength of up to 15 kg. Which version is more suitable depends on your personal handling and the area of use.

Which applications can a suction cup be used for?

A suction cup helps wherever singing bowls are to be positioned and guided on the body in a targeted way. It is used, for example, in sound massages and special therapeutic applications and can also be helpful in occupational therapy. Especially when working with people with disabilities, the suction cup can make it easier to guide a singing bowl precisely. The aid also offers practical support for self-application, as the singing bowl can be positioned in a controlled way on areas of the body that are difficult to reach. The focus is on safe and targeted handling. The suction cup supports the use of the singing bowl without unnecessarily restricting its natural vibration.

What is the Hess Sound helper series and when is it useful?

The Hess Sound helper series was developed to guide singing bowls precisely and comfortably on the body. Unlike the classic suction cups, the helper series has an ergonomically shaped handle made of waxed local beech wood that sits comfortably in the hand. The little helper has a 5.5 cm suction cup and a suction strength of up to 5 kg. It is suitable, among others, for Head and Throat Bowls, Small Heart Bowls and small Bengali Singing Bowls. The medium helper has an 8 cm suction cup and holds up to 15 kg; it is suitable for Universal, Heart and Pelvic Bowls. Both models allow safe, controlled guidance and support the sound unfolding as freely as possible on the body.
